mucus plug...?!?
30/11/2008

OK, I've looked this up online as have been a bit worried since my bath this morning when I found stringy mucus when getting washed. There were a few discriptions of it ranging from 'it looks a bit like snot' to 'creamish stringy substance tinged with blood'. Many websites say that you can lose it in bits over the course of a few weeks or all at once. One website said if you lose it prior to 36 wks and it's blood tinged to call the Dr. No websites give any indication of the volume of mucus that comes out. I'm 35+6 and as I said, I found stringy mucus when I was getting washed in the bath this morning. I've never had anything like it before and it was a sort of opaque creamy kind of coulur, no traces of blood. How do I know A) if this is the mucus plug or not, B) if it's all of it or part of it? and C) should I be worried at losing it so early?? Any help or advice at all would be most appriciated!! Thanks Leigh & 35+6 wk bump

Hi, I would get checked over by your midwife. If it is the plug you're a bit early, or if its a discharge because of an infection then you'll need to get medicine of some description. Give ya midwife a call would be my advice. Nat and 37+2 wk bump.

Hi, mine looked like 'I'd blown my nose in my knickers'! - so I told my hubby anyhow! No blood & there wasn't any more over next days. I was 36+4 - 3 days later I went into 'proper' labour & had him. He was also my 1st. I would give your midwife a ring in morn & see what she says. - Mind I saw mine 2days later & she still said I'd be a full term girl. 2 days later 3wk early boy! Good luck x
