Remembering....
15/08/2008

Hi everyone Ok, bare with me here.... ;) I'm due in March with my 2nd and I already have a 22 month old girl called Pippa. With Pippa I didn't realise I was having her as I hadn't had Braxton Hicks, managed to get into hospital just in time, waters broke when they put me on the bed and had Pippa 30 mins later. I want that to happen again with my 2nd but I remember how much pain I was in after the birth of Pippa and its making me feel apprehensive to have this second one now as it was months after that I started to be able to do normal things again (you know what I mean re toilet and stuff). My husband, bless him, has installed a shower for me (as getting into a bath was like being ripped apart last time and our bath is very deep), and told me instead of breast feeding he'll get me loads of pain killers and get the powder milk and just been a pip but I'm still totally scared. Sorry to ramble but it would make me feel a whole lot better if people could give me little tips and stuff on how to cope. Thanks xx

Hi Claire, firstly my heart goes out to you as it sounds like you had a really bad time post labour - I cant begin to imagine how you felt! I tore pretty badly with my first baby & the healing process was pretty grim, therefore when I fell pregnant the 2nd time that was a major concern of mine! All I can say is every labour is different! I never had any signs I was in labour with my daughter but with my son I had the lot, a show, waters broke & constant contractions! My 2nd labour was much, much better than my 1st, I did tear but it was completely different & no fault of mine or the midwifes! He came out with his hand at the side of his face! The healing process was much quicker & it really didnt hurt as much! All I can say is try not to panic or worry about it - I know thats easier said than done, but stressing yourself will do you no favours! Try to be as calm as you can about it all (which will help!) and take things as they come! It sounds like you've got a diamond husband who is very supportive so make the most of that! Let us know how you get on! Best of luck! Love Marie & 12 wk bump x
