Hi, you dont give alot of info so its tricky to advise why he may be waking in the night, therefore, not able to offer advice re this. However, there are 101 reasons why children become unsettled during the night from nightmares to physical probs (im not saying he has either of these) but would need to know alot more info before advice could be given. Secondly, based on the little info you do give you say he appears to drink more during the night (he is thirsty) Have you mentioned this to your GP or Health Visitor - it may be nothing to concerning however, you wouldnt expect him to be drinking through the night if he is getting all he needs during the day. I would get this checked out if I were you as increased thirst can be as a result of Diabetes. I'm not saying your son has this but these things always need to be checked out as its not the 'norm' for them to be waking for fluids during the night. Good Luck, sorry i couldnt be more help Vicky

hi thanx for advice.i did mention this to doc and health visitor when he was doin this in the past but i felt as though they didnt really take any notice,as if i was making something out of nothing.he has plenty fluids through the day and has a healthy diet,i think i will just get him checked out again for peace of mind.i do know someone else and her daughter has always been the same and shes now 2,but i dont think it is norm.as for his restlessness through the night i did put it down to his teething espec when his back teeth started coming through but i dont like seein him like that and you cant help worry its something else, hope you can make sense of this bit hard to put in words.thanx x

Hi again, you know your little lad better than anyone, your prob spot on when you say its his teeth as they are restless during the night, and can often take more fluids or less, they appear to like the comfort of the dummy/beaker in their mouth, it appears to relieve their discomfort. I know some little ones really suffer through the teething stage. The only thing you can really do is pop some bonjela on before bed, and if your awake and they are unsettled during the night maybe put a little more on. Not sure whether it will wake him, if you do that but I suppose you have to weigh up if its worth it i.e. he may settle again once the teething gel has been smothered on his gums. I change my 11 week olds nappy during the night after her feed and she doesnt even stir! shes like her mum she loves her sleep! you take care and good luck with your little one Vicky
