Hi, Cant comment on the placenta other than what I've read in baby books, that is that unless it is blocking the cervix then there shouldnt be an issue, and that as you go further into the pregnancy it will move up, fingers crossed it moves high enough out the way of the cervix. When you go back ask the sonographer how low lying it is and if they think its likely to move. As far as your scan goes, when I was 20 weeks I had my scan and they couldnt check everything because the baby wouldnt move and so I had to go back 2 weeks later when she was bigger and wrigglier, everything was perfect when we went back. I'm now just waiting for D Day. Good luck and stop worrying, theres nowt you can do for now. Nat and 37+2 wk bump x

Hi. I was told at my 20 week scan that i had a low lying placenta and that i'd have to have a scan later in pregnancy to check it had moved out of the way. It had and i delivered my little boy without the need for a c section. Exactly the same thing happened with my sister in law. I'm not sure of the exact figures, but i know a large percentage of placentas which are low lying at the 20 week scan just move higher up as the uterus grows so try not to worry, odds are on your side!

Thanks guys for your messages back, you've made me feel much bettert, going back today for spine measuring and sexing-hopefully!! lol! think i will ask exactly how low my placenta is, to see how much it would need to move, just really dont fancy a c section!! it was bad enough having forceps with my little boy who is now 3 x jen xx

hope scan went well. there are 4 different grades of low-lying placenta. the worst one covers the cervix completely. the majority of placentas move up as everyone said. if you're not having fresh bleeding on occasion its unlikely its very low-lying. edel 28 weeks
