hi i put my daughter in a bed at 13 months old, and she took to it fine. i just surrounded her with pillows for the first couple of weeks. once they're aware there are no bars there they tend to stay put.

hi my son was in a bed at 15 months but he was rubbish in his cot if i was you i would keep him in a cot for as long as possible if hes happy there as when there in a bed they can get out witch gives you a few sleepless nights then also coz my lil boy is still young he tends to scream at his gate everytime he stirs now as he can get out good luck x

I agree with Jade, my daughter was a nighmare for sleeping and still is she climbed out of her cot at 18months so we got her a cotbed and she would never sleep in it. She is now 2years old and in a single bed as we thought that might help but she till a nightmare it takes us an hour from 7pm her bed time to get her to stay in her bed she climbs her stair gate and comes down the stairs so we spend all night taking her up and putting her back to bed and she then gets out at 4am to then get in bed with us. So keep him in there as long as possible if he is content then that's good, I think that is half the problem with my daughter. I have a 7month old daughter as well and they share a room and luckly she loves to sleep and is sound asleep in her cot whilst all this is going on.

what i do with my daughter is read her a bedtime story, then leave the lamp on next to her bed and leave her with a book. she'll read quietly to herself for about 5 mins then lies down and goes to sleep. we don't have a stair gate on, i close her bedroom door initially then about half an hour later i open it again and she stays put. there are nights when she gets up and climbs into my bed, but she doesn't really wake me up (i am aware she's there but i'm not having to get out of bed, and she's not getting upset)

Hi i put my son in a bed at about 10 month as he was trying to climb out of his cot and this was worrying me. I put pillows on the floor next to the bed after rolling out once he learned that its comfier to stay in the bed but if you are worried try a bed guard until you feel you child is ready everyones little ones are different. My little guy is 2 now and has a full size single bed and just gets up to use the toilet then gets back in and goes back to sleep. Good luck
