Hiya I'm really worried as i read somewhere you cant get pregnant until after your first period after giving birth and now i keep reading that people have gotten pregnant within weeks of giving birth! I had my little boy 3wks 5days ago and had unprotected sex last night thinking i was safe can anyone help?

Hi, I was told by the midwife at the hospital to sort out contraception asap as you can get pregnant before first period after birth. When I went to the GP (before I had my first period) he also told me the same, in fact he said at this time your at your most fertile!! Soz for the bad news Vicky P.S I did what you did and had to get the morning after pill, you can use it for up to 72 hours after sex (im sure its 72??)

........You could actually release an egg and get pregnant again as early as 2 or 3 weeks after delivery! You can get pregnant even if your period has not returned; usually your period comes 2 weeks after you ovulate. Found this on internet site (medical site)

Yep, have to agree with the other posts, if fact this did happen with my first 2, I was pregnant again within 7 weeks of giving birth! I would go and have the morning after pill if you are worried about becoming preggers so soon after, Good luck hun xx

hi read the reply about paying for the morning after pill if you ring your gp or family planning centre they will either give it to you or tell you about a chemist that does it for free i know boots charge but some of the local chemists dont

Hi, yes you can get it from GP family plannin etc for free or prescription charge but they are only open certain hours, over the weekend you've got no chance (not where I live anyway and im near a city) and then you got to get a Dr's app to get the perscription by which time the 72 hours is long gone!! I think you should get checked out by ur gp just to be on the safe side coz what u think is u period meght b inbedding! Good luck
