my youngest son is nearly 15 months but he is size of a two yr old hes tall and his cot is far too small 4 him i worry about putting in a bed even though he can get up and down ok on my bed i have two older children but they were tiny n did really sleep in a bed until they were both 2 n a half. from claire and 14 month old owen

Hi Claire, im debating whether to put my little boy into a bed too. Hes 18 months but if he hasnt got a sleeping bag on can climb out of his cot and i had to take him to a&e! Im reay scared that hes going to take his sleeping bag off and do it again! Im worried about him being in and out of bed all the time and what mischeif he'll get into if he goes in a bed!! ive just got a stairgate and am going to buy one of those rails that you attach to the bed so he wont fall out. But going to try and wait till after christmas. good luck kali xxx

My little boy was 15 month when I put him in a bed, again he's big for his age and looked uncomfortable in his cot and never slept a full night in it! He loves his bed, I have a bed rail up and fingers crossed he's never fallen out! I think you have to go on your gut instinct and you can always scatter cushions around the floor to cushion any falls he may have! Julie and Harrison x

hi my son was in a bed at 15 months we just put a gate at his door so he couldnt come out his room and made sure his room was completly child friendly hes fell out a couple of times in the first week but he was fine and now he gets in like a big boy and did so after the first week hope this helps love jade n jake xx

hi my daughter went in a toddler bed at 12 months. theyr made from 12 mnths plus. i put her in the bed as she toppled out of her cot and we ended up in a&e and it was terrifying. the toddler beds r so low that even if they did fall out it wudnt hurt too much. cots are far too dangerous for bigger kids. i didnt use a bed rail or anything i just put a safety gate up in her room. the 1st few days were hard but with perseverence its easy. theyl keep getting out and mayb crying at the gate but just put them bak to bed. the novelty will soon ware off. it took me 3 days to get my daughter settled into a bed and she loved it instantly. she has never fallen out and iv neva looked bak since. and shes 2 and a half. it was 2 risky after she fell out tht one time we was so lucky she wasnt badly injured. a few days of crying and restlessness is defo worth it.
