It depends on how much u earn. Go to citizens advice or ur local jobcentre they will be able to advise u on what u may b entitled to. And your very lucky that ur hubby wants to do the child care cus mines useless!!! he don't even no how to change a nappy and my boy is 10 months old now! Good luck Amy

Hi, concrats at your pregnancy but i would say to both of you slow down. Neither of you have any idea how you are going to feel as it progresses.Enjoy the next 34+ weeks and talk alot about what is right for both of you and more important what is right for your little one.

Hi all i meant was that while at this early stage it might sound like a great idea- you at work, your OH looking after your little one it might not suit as the time goes on. What you could think about is sharing the work and looking after baby, friends of mine do that and it works well for them- they get the best of both worlds.

Hi, my son is 3 months old and in 3 months time i will be returning to work while my husband stays at home, this is because i enjoy working and although i love my son i want to be able to provide for him by earning as much as i can. Also it gives my hsband some decent bonding time with him as i dont want my son always coming to me with everythign when he has 2 parents who love him equally. Dont get me wrong if my husband wanted to work i would stay at home as i wouldnt want a stranger bringing up my child so day care is out of the question. My view is discuss it and so whatever is best for your family unit. My dad hates the fact i want to work as he believes i should be looked after but its not the case, its not the 60's, do what makes you happy

Hi! I think its great your hubby is thinking of doing that. The amount of money you get will depend on how much you earn. If either parent works then you should be entitled to working tax credits and child tax credits, and again the amount you get will be based on how much your annual income is. Your local citizens advice bureau are excellent at dealing with these kind of things and will ensure you get the money you're entitled to. I stay at home to look after my son while my partner works, as he prefers to work. However if he changed his mind then I wouldn't mind returning to work as I'd prefer my son to be looked after by one of us rather than daycare.
