help

Hi there. my son is almost 10 months old and doesnt seem to like eating or drinking at all. he has never been a big feeder but instead of his appetite getting bigger, it has pretty much disappeared !! he will take his morning milk of about 7oz ok but then it all goes downhill. he cries when he is offered his savoury lunch and dinner and puts his hands to his mouth to stop anything going in. he will often eat a youghurt but he cant manage on 2 yoghurts a day ! he has now refusing his bedtime milk too. i am at my wits end. everyone says it a phase but its been going on for nearly 2 months now and seems to be getting worse. we dont wanna force him to eat cos we dont want him to get a phobia about food. the hv and gp just keep insisting its a phase. can anyone offer any help, advice or insight into why he might be doing this ?? Hi, my little man has just been ill & has been right off his food. I have basically given him anything (including 'junk' - bad mother) just to get him to eat something. Does he have 'finger foods'? We found breadstick, cheddars & packets of fruit flakes seemed to do the trick. I know how you feel as its really awful when they won't eat. I would offer anything & everything with out making a fuss until he eats something which he likes. My little 1 is now into roast parsnips - urgh couldn't think of anything worse but he loves them! x

I read about similar problems with babies. There was recomendation from the specialist - not to force baby Give him few "free" days - when he will eat ONLY what he wants. MAybe he'll get hungry. or maybe try eat something with him on your lap - maybe he will be interested in what you r eating?

hi my daughters been a bit fussy for a couple of months too. she's 18 months old, and doesn't have bottles of milk anymore. she'll eat fine at nursery, cos all the others are too, but at home she gets really fussy. at first i just thought it was a phase, but after a couple of weeks i just realised she was playing me, and saying no to her dinner so she could get chocolate and crisps. so for the past week she's been told no to chocolate and crisps til she's had some dinner, and she's finally realised and actually started eating again. I would say just keep trying a couple of spponfuls, maybe try distraction - i sometimes get my daughter to read a book or something that way she'll eat without realising she has!!
