hello, I was really worried the first time I had sex, but it was fine. it was a little bit sore initially, but after a couple of seconds it was ok, that was about 4 weeks after my daughter was born.

Hiya, we waited 6 weeks, I didn't get stitches, had bad grazes which was horrible but even after 6 weeks I wasn't ready but did it anyway to get it out the way! Bit uncomfortable first couple of times but after that its fine - try not to tense and enjoy you'll soon get back to normal!! Jac & Holly 10 months x

We waited 3 months - not completely thru choice as my episiotomy took that long to heal cos the stitches came undone and it got infected (long story that i won't go into details about!!) However, we have now resumed sex and as long as you both take it really slow and relax as much as you can (glass of wine before hand!?) you'll be fine. If it's too sore try another position til you find one that's ok. It really isn't as sore as you think it'll be. Good luck x

Hello - have just read the other replies and i'm amazed that others were able to have sex so soon after. I had a pretty awful labour and my bruising didn;t go down until 6 weeks after birth and even then my scar was sore. being 100% truthful, we didn't have sex until 8 months after my son was born!! we tried but iut was just too painful. The doctor examised me but she said i was fine on the 'inside' so it was basically in my head. I convinced myself it was goung to be painful so it was. Al I can advise is to take your time and don't rush it. Hopefully your partner will be understanding and hopefuly the sex will be better as you're more comfortable. All the best. xx

hi i had stitches on the inside and the out and i was very scared but wen i finally got round to doin it it wasnt that bad at all just remember to take it slow and the longer you leave it u will probably find it will hurt more hope this has helpedxx

Get a water based lube so it won't be sore. If you had stitches they won't rip open or anything. Tell your partner to be gentle maybe have a bath together to relax you as if you are up tight you'll think it is painful. Good luck
