Hiya you've got nothing to worry about i can't remember if i took a water sample but you could take one just incase. all the doctor will do is ask how your feeling and stuff like that and will telll you to book an appointment with the midwife in a few weeks time. he/she will probably tell you to fill in a few forms so you can get your maternity exemption card do it as soon as possible good luck!

All depends on your health authority as to what the proceedure is, your dr will tell you what happens next anyway. I had to have a blood test to confirm before I was givent he details of our midwife centre (live in a tiny village and don't have a midwife at the surgery), after confirmation you will need to arrange a booking appointment with your midwife and she will advise you from there and help arrange your scans and tests etc

Hi Kara - Im with Kim on this one - it completely depends on where you live! When I found out with my first I didnt know what to expect, I saw my doctor, said Im pregnant and he said "congratulations". That was it, no urine or blood sample to confirm. He told me the midwife would contact me to do a booking in appointment (they go through all your family history etc) and thats about it. They'll lead you from there on! Good luck today & most importantly "congratulations" love Marie x
