VIRAL INFECTION????
24/07/2008

Hello My 12 week old boy (6.5 weeks prem) is just recovering from meningitus & picked up a 'viral infection' in hospital. He's dribbling like a tap, screaming when I try to breastfeed him, feeding every hour but only for a little while so not getting any hind-milk, has a slight fever but is very hot & sweaty, has very sore bleeding lips. The doc says its just a viral infection & oral thrush, but he's had it for 2 weeks now & getting no better. He is far sicker now than when he had his meningitus & I'm trying not to be too paranoid, but the same doc mis-diagnosed his meningitus as colic!!! He is seeing another doc tomorrow, but not sure I can leave it that long as he ended up on life support a few weeks ago withon hours of being sick. NHS direct told me to just keep an eye of things & take him to the hospital if he gets worse. He had his 1st jabs 2 days ago, but he had all these symptoms before that. HELP!!!! Amy & Joshie xx

If you are at all concerned for any reason and don't want to wait until your appointment then definately take your little one to the hospital. There is no harm in being extra careful, it is better to be safe then sorry. Your babe's health is number one and at such a young age it is important to be extra cautious.
