hi - my little girl did exactly the same thing, and my hv told me not to worry about it, and to feed her plenty of yoghurts (she now has 4 a day - 2 at lunch and 2 before bed) and cows milk with cereal. she is 14 months old and hasn't had any formula milk at all since 10 months old. i give her cows milk in her cup at tea time. Don't worry about it, she'll be getting plenty of calcium and all the things she needs from the other foods you are giving her. i really worried about it to start with, but you can't force her to have milk - i even cut back on the solids but she was just hungrier, and still refused the milk. hope it helps xx

Hi i have a 8 month old daughter who want take any feeds now in the day only one when she wakes and one before bed. She eats plenty of solids like cottage cheese and spag bol etc and I make her breakfast with formula milk so shes gets a little bit more. My h/v said to me that she should be having 20ozs a day but she only has about 12. Im sure shes getting her nutrients from her solids. So i wouldnt worry and besides all babies arent the same and I dont believe that info given should come from a textbook or goverment offical. If your little one doesnt want it they wont have it. So i wouldnt worry. Hugs Becky and baby Leah

Hiya! i have the exact same problem! my lo is now 7 mo, and since she started on 3 solid meals a day, she doesnt take near enough the recommended 20 oz of milk most days. I make her porridge up with formula in the morning, and try and give her a milk feed before her breakfat which she'l usually take a coulpe of oz of, and i make her veg purees up, and add formula to them before i give them to her, to sneak a few extra oz in!! ive woken her at 11pm for a feed since she was a newborn, and i still do, and thats her best feed of the day, usually 6oz! She's growing fine though, and gaining weight so im not too concerned. I give her yoghurts too at lunchtime. try not to worry too much, maybe just try addind milk to her meals, and sneak some extra oz in that way! hope this helps1 Donna and Niamh xx

If you are worried that the box of milk says it is only a guideline. Josh is on an 8oz bottle in morning with cereal then 5oz at lunch with savoury and pudding and the same at tea then 7oz before bed. Let them guide you. If your not sure ask your health visitor

My 10 month old loves her milk (about 21 oz a day) and still eats me out of house and home, but she is tiny (about 16 pounds at 10 months). It just goes to show that all babies are different sizes and with different appetites for food and milk. HV have a real knack for making you worry if your baby doesn't conform to there text book expectations. Don't worry about the amount your baby is drinking, as long as he is healthy and happy. I have a lot of friends with babies between 10 months and a year old and most of their babies are drinking a morning and a night bottle and that is it. My Sophie who conforms to the text book is definatly in the minority! Lissa x
