If anyone out there has any advice or been in a similar situation I would be grateful for any replies as I am at my wit's end.
My little boy is almost 3 1/2, he's been toilet trained with wees for 7 months now as well as being dry throughout the night. However he still does not poo on the toilet, the odd time he has has been by sheer luck. The odd time he has done it he's received lots of praise, stickers etc, as this worked with cracking wees.
I have spoken to the Health Visitor about it, who hasn't been a great deal of help to be honest, I've tried to keep my cool with him and just keep repeating "next time tell mammy when you want a poo" and he says he will, he just never does!!!! The other problem being he doesn't have a set bowel movement, some days its as soon as he gets up, other times it can be as late as teatime, so siting him on the toilet at set times hasn't worked (believe me I've tried). He's never made himself constipated over this, or asked for a nappy back on, he just isn't making any progress - it just doesn't seem to bother him.
I would just like to know if this is remotely normal as all my other friends who have kids of a similar age have long since cracked toilet training. He goes to nursery, the staff there are really chilled out about it and tell me not to worry and he'll do it in his own time, this is about the only thing that's kept me sane. Am beginning to think he's got something wrong with him and am considering taking him to the docs.
Sorry if this sounds like a bit of a rant but I don't know else to do other than bang my head off the wall!
