Growing out of nappies is a big step for your child and soon you'll be helping him or her move towards independence.

The potty training process to stay dry during the day can take between three and eight months and there may be times when you feel you'll never succeed, but patience and a positive attitude will get you there in the end!   1. Look for the Signs of Readiness

    There's no fixed rule about when to start potty training, but be on the lookout for your child's increasing awareness of being wet or soiled, or an interest in your own toilet habits.

    Stories, songs and games will help relax your child and make them more receptive to the move out of nappies.

    Put a potty in places other than the bathroom - and consider buying a small, portable seat if your child would rather sit straight on the loo. Whatever you do, try to be consistent.
